DAVID PENNIE
PRINCIPAL SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTANT
MEng
David is a passionate advocate for low embodied carbon and the circular economy within the built environment. His career began as an engineer with a tier one contractor, where he gained hands-on experience across both infrastructure and building projects. This early exposure gave him a valuable understanding of the day-to-day challenges faced by delivery teams on site. He later transitioned into a design-focused role, where he played a key part in developing low carbon design strategies and embedding PAS 2080 principles across business practices.
David took this expertise to AECOM, where he refined his ability to support design teams, clients, and contractors in reducing embodied carbon from the earliest stages of a project. His approach ensures that low carbon principles are integrated from the outset, rather than bolted on as an afterthought.
He has a strong track record in applying whole life carbon reduction strategies and circular economy thinking to projects and is skilled at identifying and overcoming the barriers that often hinder low carbon development.
